Counseling
Hello Chester Families! My name is Christina Seybold and I am proud to be the school counselor at Chester Elementary! As a school counselor, I provide a number of services for students and families throughout the school year. These include, but are not limited to:
Classroom guidance lessons- Central Valley School District’s Comprehensive Guidance and Counseling Program requires that all students are taught Second Step's Child Protection Unit and Bullying Prevention Unit through classroom lessons lead by school counselors. After these lessons are completed I will teach other topics such as Kelso’s Choice, Zones of Regulation, Problem Solving Steps, friendship building skills, and/or topics based on individual classroom/grade level needs.
Small group counseling – Groups run about three times each school year and may include topics such as social skills, changing families, anxiety, grief/loss, school success, etc. Please reach out to me if you are interested in having your child in a group.
Individual counseling – Brief Individual counseling for students who can benefit from in-depth processing in a confidential setting with topics such as depression, anxiety, poor anger management, social skills, grief/loss, etc.
Collaboration- It is a strong belief of mine that I am only one piece of support for your child. It is important to me to communicate with parents, teachers, Mental Health Counselors, or anyone else who is part of your child’s village.
Referrals- As a school counselor, I am not able to commit to providing ongoing individual mental health services. If your child would benefit from long term individual counseling, please reach out and I would love to help with referrals the referral process!
